Spring Song(TTBB)

Composer: Nozomi Matsumoto

Words from composer

A poem of a frog feeling joy with its entire body after emerging from a long hibernation. I strived to create a composition that captures the playful rhythm of the words. While the piece is predominantly rhythmic and lively, I hope the few “singing” sections will provide a clear contrast to the rhythmic parts.

The song incorporates Handclaps and Foot stomps at several points as rhythmic accompaniments. How these are performed – including the number of performers and the nuanced interpretation – is largely left to the discretion of the performers. I hope each performing group will use their imagination to create a performance that showcases their individual creativity, drawing inspiration from the context of the piece.
