Naoko Zukeran

Born in Okinawa, Japan. Graduated from Toho Gakuen School of Music, Department of Composition. Studied composition under Manabu Kawai and Michio Mamiya.

She won the prize for excellence in the first choral works competition sponsored by Tokyo Bunka Kaikan.

In 2004, she returned to her hometown to explore new possibilities of Okinawan words and music while collaborating with local choirs.

Winner of the 2015 Okinawa Times Art Encouragement Grand Prize, she was in charge of choral music for the 2019 National Tree Planting Festival (Okinawa).

She continues to compose mainly choral works. In recent years, she has also provided music for educational purposes.
