Aurélien Hallopeau

Born in 1995, Aurélien Hallopeau is a French composer who currently mainly writes for choir and voice, while keeping composing for other instruments. Also an engineer in the space industry, he sings as a baritone-bass in several ensembles.

Aurélien Hallopeau’s music has been performed in different countries in Europe and in the USA. Several of his choral works have been awarded prizes during international composition competitions, such as “Petit Bestiaire” (Eufonia-Bordeaux’s 2021 competition, France); “Gaudeat iuventus” (Concurso de Composicion Coral Carmina Nova 2021, Spain), “Sub tuum praesidium” (Chorus Austin’s Composers Competition 2023, USA), “Surge amica mea, et veni” and “Rimango sol” (21st “Seghizzi” International Choral Composition Contest).

In January 2023, “Analemme”, a longer composition for choir and percussion -setting excerpts from astronomical treaties and scientific documents dealing with the trajectory of the Sun- was also awarded a prize by festival FestyVocal’s composition competition (France), and was performed by renowned Swedish choir Allmänna Sången, conducted by Maria Goundorina.
