“Surrexit Christus Hodie” is a work that celebrates the resurrection of Christ. The piece is divided into three parts: the first and last sections are rather lively, conveying the joy of the resurrection and encouraging to praise the Lord. In contrast, the central section is more serene, and depicts the scene where the women, bringing spices to Jesus’ tomb, discover that His body is missing. Instead, they encounter an angel who announces that Christ has risen.
