Composer’s note

This piece was made out of my strong desire to write a new work, inspired and moved by hearing a Spanish children’s choir perform in Japan at the Sanda International Junior Chorus Festival in the summer of 2017. As I walked out of the concert hall, I was greeted by a piercingly blue sky. I composed Kyrie, a song of prayer, thinking of the transparent and endless blue sky. It was first performed by the Toyota Boys and Girls Choir in December 2017 and was also performed by the same choir at the Grand Prix of the 1st Tokyo International Chorus Competition in 2018.
