I would want to do something with you

Composer: Ayako Meida
Lyricist: Shuhei Yamazaki

Words from composer:

This piece was composed in response to a commission from the Voicefield Chorus, which is a mixed choir based in Ashiya City, Hyogo Prefecture. I am also from Ashiya City, which led to the creation of this new piece.

The poem, “I would want to do something with you”, is written by Shuhei Yamazaki, who is the same age as me. The energy of the poem’s heartfelt craving, multiplexed with the positive musicality of the Voicefield Chorus, was resulted in a short but passionate song. The song has aspects of rock and gospel, and has the generosity and power of world music.

When this piece was planned to be premiered, COVID-19 had been widespread, and the concert was canceled and postponed, and it has yet to be performed in public (as of spring 2021). I hope that this song will resound with smiles in the near future.
