Composer: Ko Matsushita
Lyricist: Shuntaro Tanikawa
Accompaniment: A cappella
Performance Duration: 3’15”
This piece was written for MODOKI, the choir located in Saga Prefecture, in 2017. It was premiered by the choir at the Karuizawa International Choral Festival on August 26 of that year.
The song is composed so that anyone can enjoy a cappella chorus in a casual manner, and is easy to sing in terms of range and rhythm.
A grateful heart is born in “me” by knowing that the mystery and joy of life are filled in the casual landscape of nature that surrounds “me”. I thank my mother for giving birth to me in this beautiful world, and finally, I quietly whisper “Thank you” to myself, full of anxiety, unable to find my purpose in life or my place in it. They are words of self-affirmation that only I can hear. But beyond those whispers, there is a limitless world of possibilities. A world of possibilities.
I hope that Mr. Tanigawa’s wonderful poem will be sung emotionally in this song.
