Composer: Laura Jēkabsone
Lyricist: William Shakespeare
Words from composer:
It was a great daring to write a piece of music for one of the most known sonnets in the world. William Shakespeare’s works have their own music already in them, so I guess it is a massive challenge for every composer not to interrupt its natural flow. I wrote the piece for many months because I had to carefully think about each word and sentence and find the best way to put it into music. I would call it a kaleidoscope that consists of many different emotions. That is also what I see in other Shakespeare’s works, and I wish to find a similar way of expression in my music more often.
