Prière Mariale de Saint Odilon

Composer: Matteo Magistrali

Words from composer:

When I read this ancient prayer I was really fascinated. The first part beautifully describes the tenderness of Mary, a tenderness that I tried to represent in music with soft harmonies, light dynamics, and delicate melodic imitations. In the second part, however, the believer entrusts their weaknesses, uncertainties, and sufferings to Mary. For this reason, here the harmonies and melodic movements become more harsh and sonorous. The piece concludes, however, with confidence, taking up the initial part of the prayer.
