O salutaris hostia

Composer: Simone Campanini

Words from composer:

Can singing be an instrument of contemplation? O salutaris hostia tries to answer this question with simple means, without any dramaturgy, but rather by looking in the words of Thomas Aquinas—and above all, in their sound—for the deep inspiration of the Spirit, so that the soul can find the condition for letting oneself be pervaded by the saving mystery of the Eucharist.

This piece was given the third prize in the Japan International Choral Composition Competition 2018
