Composer: Ko Matsushita
Notes from the composer:
This piece was written in 2015 for the Shinshu University Mixed Choir as a four-part unaccompanied mixed chorus. Then, in 2020, the spread of Covid-19 plunged the city into a serious situation where artists lost their places of activity.
In order to support the artists in this situation, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government launched the “Yell for Art! Tokyo Project,” I created a new three-part work for women’s voices with piano accompaniment for participating in this project.
In 2023, in a world that seems to have somehow escaped the Covid-19 disaster, the time has come again when many people can sing together. This “SATB Voices + Piano” version was newly created for the Karuizawa International Choral Festival, which will be held from August 18 to 20, 2023, as a place to share this joy.
The Karuizawa International Choral Festival will be held for the last time in 2023. Since this song is sung at the milestones of life, such as graduation, it is meaningful to sing this song in the last of Karuizawa.
I hope that this song will help you to appreciate the preciousness of singing face-to-face with people.
