la-la-lu-la-lu

Composer: Kikuko Maruo

Words from composer

This piece was composed as the commissioned work for the 7th Tokyo International Choir Competition by the Tokyo International Choral Organization. The lyrics are composed of Vocalise sounds like “la” and “lu” without meaningful words. A unison section appears in measure 23. The “la-la-lu-la-lu” part is a melody that reminds me of how I used to call out “Let’s play~(Asobimasho)” in front of my friend’s house when I was a small child. While contemplating what kind of song to write, a nostalgic childhood scene suddenly appeared in my mind, warming my heart. This became the energy to create the music. I hope for a world where children can play outside with peace of mind. I would be delighted if everyone could enjoy singing this piece.
