Kimini – To You

Composer: Ko Matsushita
Lyricist: Shuntaro Tanikawa

Words from composer:

This piece was written for Ensemble Gione’s 30th anniversary concert on October 6, 2019.
Ensemble Ghione, which I direct, is a “mom’s chorus” that is active in Shimotsuke City, Tochigi Prefecture, and the members are all cheerful and fun, and their rehearsals are always full of laughter. I wanted to write a cheerful, stylish, and pop song for this chorus, and that’s what I composed this “Kimini – To you”. I also decided to make it an unaccompanied choral piece so that it can be sung anytime, anywhere.
Mr. Tanikawa’s witty and loving text is perfect for this choir. I’m sure there are many women’s choirs like Gione’s that are bright and have good teamwork. This is a piece that I would love to see such choirs perform.
Mr. Tanikawa’s words are written in Japanese, but upon publication, we have added an English text so that this song can be widely sung overseas. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Mihoko Tsutsumi for her efforts in translating the text into English.
The difficulty level of this piece is quite low, so any choir, regardless of age or experience, can enjoy it. Please feel free to enjoy this piece!
