Io resto qui: addio!

Composer: Giorgio Susana

Words from composer:

During the Second World War in Russia a soldier dies covered in snow. Before dying he greets his soldier friends with words of hope “in this birch field, spring will return …”. Spring symbolizes the season of rebirth and peace.

The music is sweet, calm and poetic. Death doesn’t have to be scary. The suspended Accords of the initial part and numerous pauses represent the last moments and sighs of that soldier who, like many others, died fighting.
