Words from the Editor
This is the new version for SSAA chorus of O magnum mysterium, one of the masterpieces by Tomás Luis de Victoria (c.1548-1611), a master of the Spanish Renaissance.
The contrast between the polyphonic part and the homophonic part is truly beautiful. Although the female chorus does not have a very wide range, it is possible to create a three-dimensional and wide acoustic space by vividly expressing the polyphonic movements. The homophonic sections should also produce a mysterious sound that is unique to SSAA chorus.
I hope you will enjoy this edition of a work from the Renaissance period that has not been easily enjoyed by SSAA choirs.
