Monica Nasti

Monica Nasti, born in Martina Franca (Italy), is an accomplished Italian composer and educator with a broad and versatile background.
She graduated at a young age in Piano from the Conservatory of Pescara, then continued her studies at the “N. Piccinni” Conservatory of Bari, where she graduated in Music Education, Band Orchestration and Composition, where she also obtained the Second Level Academic Diploma in Composition with highest honors and distinction.

She further specialized in Composition studying with Gianluca Baldi, Fabio Cellini and Ivan Fedele.

Her artistic career is rich and varied, spanning music for prose and shadow theater, contemporary opera, educational music, jazz, world music, pop, vocal (choral, sacred, solo) and instrumental (chamber and symphonic) music. Specializing primarily in choral composition, she has written numerous award-winning works recognized in major national and international competitions. Her accolades include prizes from ARCoPu, AERCO, FENIARCO, FEDERCORI, ASAC Veneto, the Renata Tebaldi Foundation, and New Dublin Voices.

Her catalogue encompasses compositions for mixed choirs, female and male voices, children’s choirs, chamber ensembles, and symphonic orchestras.

She co-created two contemporary operas for the Op.64 Company of Milano with her sister Daniela Nasti: Due sorelle in treno and Un Diabolik in tasca (2022), based on texts by Daniela Morelli, as well as L’Arte di ascoltare i battiti del cuore by Jan-Philipp Sendker (2024). All premiered at Teatro Carcano and Elfo Puccini theaters in Milano.

Her works are published by Carrara, Sonitus, Arcopu, Feniarco, Agenda, Progetti Sonori of Mercatello sul Metauro, and Digressione Music.

For 25 years, she has been a full professor of Theory, Rhythm, and Ear Training at the “Nino Rota” Conservatory of Monopoli -Italy.
