Chieko Matsunami

Inspired to pursue a career in music through experiences with the NHK Tokyo Children’s Choir (formerly Tokyo Broadcasting Children’s Choir), he graduated from Toho Gakuen School of Music’s Composition and Theory Department (Composition Major). She then studied jazz composition and film music at Berklee College of Music, earning a Diploma in Film Scoring. After returning to Japan, she has worked in commercial and film music, handling orchestration and music engraving alongside composition and arrangement. Currently focusing on choral, ensemble, and educational publishing, her works are published by major publishers including Kawai Publishing, Zen-On Music Company, Panamusica, and Ongaku-no-Tomo-Sha. She creates works that blend expertise and practicality rooted in classical, jazz, and film music. As an instructor at Toho Gakuen Music School for Children’s Kamakura-Yokohama branch, she nurtures the next generation while expanding his activities through collaborations with choirs and various ensemble groups nationwide. Her mission is to connect people through music and enrich local communities with cultural vitality.
