Ayako Meida

After graduating from the Department of Composition, Faculty of Music, Tokyo University of the Arts, she completed a master’s course at the same university.

Her choral works include “Nihon no Shiki Meguri (Tour of Japanese Four Seasons)”, “France Uta Meguri (Tour of French Songs)”, “Inochi (Life)”, “Te kara Te e (From Hand to Hand)”, “Kiku to Kikoeru -Asa no Oto- (Hearing and Listening -Sound of Morning-)” (Edition Kawai), “Fuyu no Hizashi no (Winter Sunlight)”, “Hasami (Shears)” (Kyoiku Geijutsu Sha) and many others. She composed “Asa no Yamamichi (Mountain path in the morning)” as a set piece for Children’s Choir section at the 2nd Tokyo International Choir Competition (published by Panamusica). She has arranged national anthems from around the world for “Anthem Project” by the conductor, Kazuki Yamada.

She has also composed and arranged many pieces of instrumental music, including “Asa no Sketch (Morning Sketches),” piano collection for children (Edition Kawai), and “The first movement, Footsteps from saxophone quartet” (CAFUA MUSIC LIBRARY). They have been introduced at her own web shop “M’s musicnote“.

In addition to her activities as an arranger and pianist, she is a staff member of Yamaha JOC and teaches creative writing courses throughout Japan. In 2017 and 2018, she was a part-time lecturer at Tokyo University of the Arts.
