If I Sing

Composer: Kyoko Uoji
Words from composer

This work was composed as an encore piece for the “Enjoy! Enshu Joint Concert.” Since the main program consisted of substantial and ambitious works, I aimed for a lighthearted, catchy, and accessible musical theme that would allow everyone to relax and hum along at the end of the concert. With its swing rhythm and synchronized handclaps, this piece is designed to create a sense of unity, bringing the performers and the audience together in a shared experience of joy. It would be my greatest pleasure if this song is cherished by many choral enthusiasts, not only as an encore but also as a beloved addition to their regular repertoire. In closing, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Voix Verte and Chor Lasku for commissioning this work. I also wish to extend my sincere thanks to Mr. Masaaki Oka and Mr. Takahiko Kawaguchi for their tremendous support and dedication toward the premiere and publication of this piece.
