Kyoko Uoji
A graduate of Tokyo University of the Arts and its graduate school, Kyoko Uoji currently resides in Hamamatsu City. She has been the recipient of numerous prestigious awards, including the 24th Japan Symphony Foundation Encouragement Award; the 18th Nagoya Cultural Promotion Award; a nomination for the 11th Akutagawa Composition Award; the Grand Prize at the 2nd Yutaka Makino Composition Competition; the First Prize at the 18th Japan Art Song Promotion Association Composition Competition (accompanied by the Zen-On Music Company Award); and the First Prize at the 80th Music Competition of Japan, where she was also honored with the Iwatani Award and the Meiji Yasuda Life Award. Her teaching career includes positions as a full-time teacher at Hamamatsu Gakugei High School and a full-time Assistant Professor at Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts. Currently, Kyoko continues to be active in both education and composition—teaching students, conducting numerous choirs, and fulfilling a wide range of commissions.
