This piece was commissioned by International Choral Organization of Tokyo as a set piece of the 5th Tokyo International Choir Competition.
Although this piece is set to a poem by Takuji Ote, I have stripped it of the poet’s unique emotions and sentiments, I treated the text naturally and practically as if it were an objet. I hope you will enjoy the expression of the diversity of contrasts, antithesis, and perspective in the rhythmic patterns, chords (harmony), dynamics, vocal range, and consonant pronunciation.
