This piece was composed for the church series concert “Passion and Resurrection” hosted by the Japan Chorus Conductor Association at the 2008 Resurrection Festival. It was premiered on April 8th at St. Mary’s Cathedral Tokyo. To this day, I cannot forget the strong emotions that welled up inside me when this song was performed by all the choirs at the concert.
I was baptized in the Catholic Church on April 8th of the year before the premiere and on April 8th in 2020, the day it was officially decided that this piece would be published, beloved Sr. Kazuko Ishikawa—who had taken good care of me and who had cried tears of joy for birth of this piece at its premiere in 2008—ascended to heaven. Once again, I would like to dedicate this song to the sister’s soul.
